In early 2020, the world’s most famous ‘bear’, Rocco Steele is hitting the shores of Africa on a 2 week All Gay vacation.
The aim of the tour is to not only launch and promote Rocco’s new underwear line, 10SEVEN, but to drive LGBTQ+ tourism into South Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands.
Over the past five decades, the visibility and acceptance of LGBTQ+ people in society has gradually increased around the world. This process has been accelerated by a range of factors including political pressure from civil society, the spread of social media and increased corporate advocacy.
In general, it is widely accepted that the LGBTQ+ population accounts for approximately 6% to 10% of the total population.
As such, the value of the LGBTQ+ market is substantial, with an estimated spending power of US$3.6 trillion globally (Source: LGBT Capital, www.lgbt-capital.com); of which an estimated US$100 billion of that is a travel impact in the USA alone (Source: Community Marketing Inc).
The South Africa All Gay tour will take place from 23 February – 1 March, incorporating the all-important safari and the beauty and splendor of all that Cape Town has to offer. The tour can accommodate up to 50 people and the idea is to get as many gay guys from around the world to have the experience of a lifetime.
The tour will coincide with Cape Town Pride and will depart the next day for the 5 day, all gay AfriGay Mauritius event at Ambre Resort. Rocco will be launching his 10SEVEN brand into the African market at the AfriGay event in Mauritius.
The South Africa tour is on sale to international travelers, with the goal to give LGBTQ+ inbound tourism a boost, and guests will have an up close and personal interaction with Rocco. In Mauritius, at AfriGay, South African travelers will have the opportunity to purchase an additional VIP access to spend time with Rocco at various sub-events.
