PhD student jailed after becoming Britain’s most prolific rapist

Reynhard Sinaga has become found guilty of 159 counts of sexual offenses against 48 different men.

Indonesian-born Reynhard Sinaga has become the most prolific rapist ever caught in Britain after being found guilty of 159 counts of sexual offenses against 48 different men across four different trials. As a result, he has to remain in jail for at least 30 years before he can be considered for release.

As reported by CNN, the 36-year-old Ph.D. student spent more than a decade luring dozens of intoxicated young men to his Manchester apartment before drugging and sexually assaulting them.

Police, however, have confirmed that the true number of his victims is “likely to have been higher, having found evidence linking him to assaults on as many as 190 different people”.

According to the New York Times, Sinaga’s attacks only came to light in 2017 after an 18-year-old victim woke up while being assaulted. The victim managed to fight him off and crucially was able to grab Sinaga’s iPhone before leaving the apartment.

After reporting the matter to the police, 3.29 terabytes of graphic material of his recorded assaults were discovered on Sinaga’s phone. In some cases, the assaults lasted hours, with one particular attack taking place for a period of eight hours.

“Reynhard Sinaga is the most prolific rapist in British legal history,” Ian Rushton, North West Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor, said during his closing arguments.

“His extreme sense of sexual entitlement almost defies belief and he would no doubt still be adding to his staggering tally had he not been caught”.
