The AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), The Gender and Religion Programme and the Ujamaa Centre at UKZN, ACT Ubumbano and We Will Speak Out South Africa, have embarked on a silent protest to highlight the silencing and dehumanising effects of sexual and gender based violence at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Pietermaritzburg Campus.
The protest started at 8am and will continue until 9pm on Wednesday August 7.
AHF is the largest global non-profit HIV and AIDS health provider with over 1.1 million patients in care, in over 43 countries. With research correlating the epidemic of rape and the epidemic of HIV. AHF is committed to addressing rape and sexual and gender based violence in their efforts to eradicate HIV.
